MANGALDAI, Dec 2 � Assam is in the driver�s seat against Goa on the second day of the 4-day U-19 Cooch Bihar Trophy league match here today. At the close of play in Mangaldai stadium, the visitors were just 11 runs ahead in their second innings with only four wickets to fall.
Rausan Alam struck thrice (3/40) for the host while Rajjakuddin Ahmed, Mrinmoy Dutta and DJ Das took one wicket each for the host. Earlier in the day, resuming in their overnight first innings score of 148 for 5, Assam reached a comfortable total of 306 runs taking a vital 175 runs lead over their opponent.
Yatin Malik (92) who was unbeaten on 56 today missed out a ton by 8 runs while other not out batsman DJ Das was out for 26. However, a late charge by Rausan Alam (49) helped the host to increase the margin of lead. For Goa, AG Pandrekar added three more scalps to his overnight tally and finished with 7 for 75.
