GUWAHATI, Dec 24: Tarjinder Singh hit a century and skipper Dheeraj Jadhav scored a half century to give Assam a first innings lead of 145 runs against Andhra Pradesh on the third of their Ranji Trophy Group C tie here today.
Resuming at an overnight total of 166 for two, in reply to Andhra�s first innings score of 249 all out, the hosts declared at 394 for five.
When stumps were drawn, Andhra were on 10 for no loss.
Earlier, Assam did not have an ideal start today as both their overnight batsmen � Sibsankar Roy and Amit Sinha � got out early.
Roy could add only five more runs to the total, falling for a 209-ball 77 that included with nine fours and Sinha failed to add even a single run to his yesterday�s score of 20.
Then came Jadhav and Tarjinder to the team�s rescue and they put on a solid 173-run stand for the fifth wicket.
At the personal score of 60 from 152 balls studded with six boundaries and two sixes, Jadhav retired hurt.
However, Tarjinder continued with the good work and with the help of J Syed Mohammad (21) and Dhiraj Goswami (33 not out) took the teams total past the 300-run mark.
