JORHAT, Jan 9 � Assam were eliminated from the 36th Junior National Handball Championship (Boys) from the preliminary round itself.
On the fourth day of the championship at the Jorhat District Sports Association ground here today, Assam were beaten by Kerala 10-21 and Uttar Pradesh 16-26 in the last group league matches. Assam�s poor show in the championship was flayed by the sporting fraternity here. They believe, being the hosts Assam should have prepared a team which could have reached atleast quarterfinal stage. Defending champions Delhi confirmed their quarterfinal berth defeating Chandigarh 28-14, Jharkhand 16-10 and Bihar 26-16.
