Assam gather 354, Himachal 62/0

GUWAHATI, Dec 9 � With some responsible batting by the middle order batsmen, Assam managed to cross the 350 mark in their first innings against Himachal Pradesh Group C Ranji Trophy match.

On the second day of the four-day match at the Nehru Stadium here today, in reply to Assam�s first innings total of 354, Himachal were 62 for no loss.

Former Indian opener Akash Chopra and Varun Sharma were batting with 24 and 34 respectively when the stumps were drawn for the day.

Like yesterday, today also only 75 overs of play was possible as due to bad light match could not be played for about one hour.

Today 98 overs were scheduled to be played to make up yesterday�s deficit but it was not possible as the match had to be stopped at 3.30 pm and 75 overs could be bowled.

Assam resumed their innings at the over night total of 213 for four and were all out for 354 in 117.5 overs. Amit Singh completed his half century (53) and added 68 runs for the fifth wicket with Tarjinder Singh (40). Amit-Syed Mohammad (47) pair also yeilded valuable 54 runs for the sixth wicket.
