GUWAHATI, Dec 14 � Buoyed by a 93-ball 70 off the blade of Rajot Khan, Assam managed to gather 229 in the first innings against Jharkhand on the opening day of three-day U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy match at the Nehru Stadium here today.
Jharkhand were 18 for one when bad light forced early closure of day�s play. Opting to bat first, Assam�s top and middle order could not click properly. Opener Abhilash Gogoi (27) and number three batsman Hrishikest Tamuly (38) had some useful contributions while the other batsmen could not build good partnerships. But the number seven batsman Rajot was seen in good touch and cracked 11 boundaries in his half century.
