By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 22 - Assam will play its seventh Group A Ranji Trophy match of the season against Maharashtra at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune from tomorrow.

Minimum three points from this match will put Assam in the knock out stage.

Assam will begin with favourite with 22 points from six matches and are at the second spot while Maharashtra are at the seventh place with 10 points from equal number of matches.

Assam captain Gokul Sharma said, the green top wicket is likely to help the medium pacers and he will go for field first if wins the toss. Assam will go with three pronged pace attack. Abu Nechim Ahmed and Dhiraj Goswami will be back into the playing eleven to form the pace trio with Krishna Das. The visiting team will definitely miss the service of pacer Arup Das. In the batting front Sib Sankar Roy and Amit Sinha are certain to make it to the main team as Tarjinder Singh has to sit out who got an injury. All rounder Sarupam Purkayastha is also not in the team as he was barred from bowling by the BCCI for doubtful action.

Gokul said he will go for maximum points as a result is almost certain on this wicket. The wicket is not the same where the Maharashtra-Bengal match was played. In that match 1034 runs were scored in three innings. The weather is also likely to play a vital role as it may remain cloudy during next four days.
