IMPHAL, May 14 - Assam failed to make it to the semifinals as Bihar topped pool D in goal difference in the on going 6th Hockey India Sub-junior Men�s National Championship.

Bihar scored 18 more goals than Assam in the pool matches and will face Chhatisgarh in the first semifinal of Group B of the championship.

In the other semifinal Bhopal will take on Dadra and Nagar Haveli at the Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium here tomorrow.

In their last matches of the pool Assam, which played 2-2 draw against Bihar in their first match, defeated Delhi based Citizen Hockey XI by 6-1 goals while Bihar downed Mumbai Schools Sports Association 20-0 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, host Manipur defeated Patiala 8-2 in their pool A match on the first day of the Group A championship today. In the same pool, Uttarpradesh beat Odisha 3-0 while Haryana defeated Punjab 3-2 in a pool B match.

A total of 16 teams are participating in the Group A championship.
