GUWAHATI, April 2 - Afsheen Afsha Zaman of Assam Chess Club (ACC) emerged champion in the U-7 girls category while teammate Mrinmoy Rajkhowa had to be content with the runner-up position in the U-7 open category of the 40th All Assam State Chess Championship that concluded at South Point School today. Another ACC player Ikshita Barman occupied the fourth position in the U-11 girls category. Around 100 players from across the State participated in the tournament. With this performance all the three players have qualified to represent Assam in their respective age category this year, stated a release.
