Assam boys on verge of defeat

MANGALDAI, Dec 6 - Host Assam is on the verge of suffering defeat against Maharashtra on the second day of the four-day Cooch Behar trophy elite group C match here at the Mangaldai Stadium today.

In reply to Assam�s first innings total of 122, Maharashtra piled up 204 and took 82-run lead. In the second innings the host were tottering at 86 for the loss of seven wickets.

For Maharashtra R Gaikowad top scored with 108. Assam medium pacer Mrinmoy Dutta was the leading wicket taker with 6 victims giving away 69 runs. Rian Parag took four for 83.

Now Assam has only a four run lead with three wickets in hand. US Agarwal (4/36) and SA Kothari (3/23) wrecked the Assam second innings with devastating spells.
