NAGPUR, March 1: Goa got the better of West Bengal 3-1 while Tamil Nadu defeated Assam 3-0 in the league matches of the Senior National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy held here today.
After a goalless first half, Goa exerted pressure on West Bengal and their Milagres Golsalves scored the first goal in the 54 minute.
Agnelo Colaco scored the second goal 15 minutes later while Beevan Demello consolidated their lead with a third goal in the 66th minute.
West Bengal reduced the margin in injury time through a goal by Naro Harri Shreshta (1-3).
For Tamil Nadu, N Kaalilaudeen (33rd minute), G Pravendran (81st minute and 85th minute) scored as they defeated Assam 3-0.
Tomorrow Maharashtra will play Railways while Services are up against Jammu & Kashmir. � PTI
