Assam archers strike two gold medals

GUWAHATI, Jan 21 � Assam archers won two gold and as many silver medals on the opening day of the 60th National School Games Archery Championship for boys and girls U-17 and U-19 at the Maulana Md Tayabulla Hockey Stadium here today.

Sabit Khaklary (recurve 70m, boys� U-19) and Akhapwr Basumatary (recurve 60m, girls� U-17) struck gold for Assam. Sabit and Akhapwr also won silver medals in recurve 60m and recurve 70m respectively.

However, Maharashtra won three gold medals and three silver and two bronze medals on the inaugural day. Delhi clinched two gold, two silver and one bronze medals. Haryana was the other team to win a gold medal today.
