Assam 7th in overall growth

NEW DELHI, Nov 6 - Assam has moved to seventh rank from 19th for overall growth. The rise of the State has been fuelled by improvement in their infrastructure and macro economy.

Gujarat has been ranked number one in the overall growth, while Assam last year was ranked 19th in the category.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi received the award at the State of the State Conclave 2015 organised by the India Today Group here this evening. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was the chief guest at the function, which was attended by Chief Ministers of Gujarat Anandibhen Patil, Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, besides Gogoi and State Ministers of several other States.

However, Assam was ranked 14th in the inclusive development, a category introduced for the first time this year. Telangana topped the list of inclusive development.

A panel discussion on �Is Indian Federalism more Tilted Towards the States� was joined by the Chief Ministers.
