Assam 197/4 on day-1

GUWAHATI, Feb 6 � Assam reached a commendable total of 194 for the loss of four wickets against Kerala on the opening day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Group C match.

At close of play Dheeraj Jadhav and Tarjinder Singh are at the crease with 73 and 24 respectively.

Opting to bat first at Conor Vayal Stadium, Tellicherry, Kannur today, Assam were in trouble at the begining losing opener Pallav Das (19) at team�s total of 23. Before reaching 50 the visitors lost Gokul Sharma (14). But number three batsman skipper Dheeraj Jadhav steadied the innings with some responsible batting.

He added 54 runs for the third wicket with Kunal Saikia and 42 runs with Sib Sankar for the fourth wicket which managed to repair the early damage. Finally Dheeraj built up an unbeaten fifth partnership with Tarjinder Singh which yielded 56 runs. Dheeraj faced 187 balls and hit eight boundaries.
