Asom Chalachitra Divas on March 10

GUWAHATI, March 3 � To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first Assamese film, Joymoti, which was released on March 10, 1935, Assamese magazine Dihkh will organise a special programme, a press release stated. This memorable day of Assam will be celebrated from 3 pm onwards at Kumar Bhaskar Natya Mandir (where Joymoti was first shown in Assam). From this year, the release day of Joymoti, i.e., March 10, will be observed as �Asom Chalachitra Divas� by the magazine. Supported by the social organisation Vande, the programme is going to be organised in association with the Assam Academy of Media Studies, Jazzy Educational Society and quiz organisation A-Aa-Ka-Kha.

Several noted film personalities, film critics, journalists and officials from the Government and representatives of non-government film and cultural organisations will be present on the occasion. There will be a discussion on Joymoti and Assamese films as a whole at the beginning of the programme. It will be followed by an Assamese cinema quiz. There will also be a screening of Joymoti, the release added.
