Asian junior tennis at Jorhat from tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - The Asian Juniors, an Asian ranking tournament under Asian Tennis Federation, for boys and girls U-14 years, will kick start on August 19 at the Jorhat Tennis Club.

Besides the players from different parts of the country, players from Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Nepal and USA are also participating in this important Asian sporting event.

Roshni Aparanji Korati, DC Jorhat will inaugurate the championship at 9.30am.

ITF white badge referee Surajit Bandopadhya will conduct the championship, stated a release.

The top four ranked in the singles event of boys and girls are: (Boys) Arunava Majumder, Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar, Rohan Patel. (Girls) Mashfia Afrin (Bangladesh), Saumitra Jagatdeo Verma, Shatakshi Choudhury, Suryanshi Tanwar.

The final qualifying round results: Jishnu Pratim Das bt Samreedh Bhuyan 6-2, 6-0, Aurav Bezbaruah bt Abyan Zaffar 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, Ashwajit Senjam bt Prasurjya Bora 6-0, 6-0, Subhasish Roy bt Jiswanga Baruah 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, Bikramaditya Neil Mahanta bt Karmanya Jain 6-1, 7-6(5), Harshad Bora bt Gyandeep Goswami 6-0, 6-0, Aman Buragohain bt Aryan Borah 6-2, 6-1, Mayand Tewary bt Riyan Kashyap 6-1, 6-0.
