GUWAHATI, June 17 � The Armwrestling Association of Assam under the aegis of the Indian Armwrestling Federation is bracing up to host the Rajiv Gandhi 9th Asian Armwrestling Championship at the ITA Centre Complex here from August 21 to 26.
Chairman and vice-president of the Indian Olympic Association Bhubaneswar Kalita said the State has adequate infrastructure to host the championship in a befitting manner. Pranpratim Chaliha, general secretary of the Armwrestling Association of Assam and also the organising meet director of championship said about 300 armwresrtlers from 22 Asian countries will participate in the meet. Chaliha said the federation is looking after the preparation of 50 to 60 members of the Indian team for this meet.
The president and the general secretaries of the World Armwrestling Federation and Asian Armwrestling Federation is also expected to be here at Guwahati for the Championship, stated a press release.
