DHUBRI, April 11 - The Ashokastami Puja and the fair to commemorate the holy dip taken by devotees in the rivers of Dhubri town on the occasion of the Puja will start under the aegis of the Dhubri Ashokastami Mela Committee on Friday.
However, due to the election, the district administration has decided to keep the mela close on April 22 and 23.
Like every year, the Ashokastami Puja and the fair are expected to attract lakhs of devotees from all over the State as well as from the neighbouring States. Already different stalls have been installed at the site.
The Mela Committee has informed that the fair will be formally opened by Dhubri DC Anant Lal Gyani on Friday evening and the holy bath in the rivers of Dhubri town will take place on Saturday morning.
