GUWAHATI, April 19 � City boy Ashish Baruah clinched double crown in the Kaapro 28th KC Deka Memorial Open Incentive Table Tennis Championship, organised by the Sijars TT Club, which concluded at the ABITA Indoor Stadium here yesterday.
Ashish won the won the sub junior boys singles title defeating Subharajit Bhattacharya and pairing with Subharajit, Ashish got the better of Subhankar Srutikar (Jorhat) and Sivashis Bora(Sivasagar) duo in the doubles title clash.
Kritika Upadhaya of Guwahati bagged the girls sub junior titie beating Jitikhya Mazumder.
Other final results: (Cadet boys) Akash Baruah (Ghy) beat Sivashia Bora (Siv). (Cadet girls) Jitakhi Mazumder (Ghy) bt Adrija Sarma (Ghy). (Mini cadet boys) Adarsha Goswami (Nagaon) beat Rajdeep Dutta (Duliajan). (Mini cadet girls) Moitry Konwar beat Annie Srivastava. (Cadet boys doublkes) Subhankar Srutikar-Sivashis Bora beat Akash Baruah-Sunit Gogoi. (Mixed doubles) Manas Das-Santana Raj beat Subhajit Bhattacharya-Sudeshna Ghosh.
Director of Sports Sanjib Gohain Baruah was the chief guest in the closing function.
Assam Table Tennis Association officials Bijoy Hazarika, secretary Tridib Duvarah, former player Sankar Dutta Lahkar were also present on the occasion along with a host of guests and guardians. The closing ceremony of the advanced coaching camp also held prior to the begining of the final matches of the Sijar�s tournament.
