ASEB retain RG Baruah Trophy

GUWAHATI, Jan 10 - Defending champions ASEB Sports Club retained the RG Baruah Trophy by emerging champions in the GSA Super Division Football League. It is their 10th Super Division title.

In their final match of the league at the Nehru Stadium here today, ASEB defeated Navajyoti Club 2-0 . Vishal Sooner and Karma Narzary scored a goal each in the 17th and 47th minute respectively.

With today�s victory, ASEB collected 19 points from seven matches. They won six matches and drew one and maintained an unbeaten record this season.

Due to unavailability of ground, the GSA had to postpone the league to December and the matches were played from 1.30 pm. Although this year the Super League could not draw much attention from the footballing buffs of the city but it remained a clean tournament with not much disputes among teams and players. The referees also did a good job by conducting all the matches almost flawlessly. Referees of GRA � Jehrul Islam, Prabhat Kalita, Dwijendra Mohan Sarma, Golap Das, MC Worldson, Rafikul Haq, Buduram Das, Mintu Ali, Ashok Tamuly, Bhabesh Das, Ghitesh Dhar, Tapan Dutta, Tohid Ullah, Satish Rabha, Prasad Rabha, Bhaskar Das, Dhruba Kalita, Akil Zaman, Prabin Ch Kalita, Ranjit Das, Basudeb Barman, Saidur Rahman and Arifur Rahman led by Sushanta Sen conducted the matches.

NF Railway SC came runners-up collecting 16 points from seven outings.
