GUWAHATI, June 30 - ASEB Sports Club managed to cruise into the quarterfinal stage of the Bodousa Cup Football Tournament edging past Gauhati Town Club in goal difference.

In their last group league match at the Nehru Stadium here today both ASEB and GTC failed to break the dead-lock and as a result both the team finished the league stage with four points each. But ASEB scored five goals against three they conceded while GTC netted same number of goals but they conceded four goals in three encounters. The Shillong Lajong Football Academy topped the group with six points from two matches and one more to play.

In quarterfinal ASEB will play against Borhunkha FC at Kokrajhar on July 5.

It was a lack-lustre contest as both the teams concentrated more on defence rather go for all out attack. During the whole 90 minutes not a single positive move was visible from where goal could have been scored.

Our Tinsukia correspondent adds: Manipur outfit AMOFA FC edged past spirited Bodousa FC 3-2 in a keenly contested Group A 2 league match at the Katchujan Field here today.

The winning team was leading 2-1 at the break.
