MANGALDAI, Sept 26 � Riding on a solitary goal by Jilendra Brahma, ASEB Sports Club of Guwahati cruised into the last-four stage of the ongoing Amba Medhi football tournament. In a keenly-contested quarterfinal at the Mangaldai Stadium here today, the Guwahati Sports Association�s Super League champions ASEB edged past Green Valley Sports Club, also from Guwahati 1-0. Jilendra made good use of a floater sent by Priya Kumar Singh and headed home smartly in the 72nd minute. The Green Valley boys tried hard in the later part of the match for an equaliser but could not break through the rock solid ASEB defenders, Birendra Narzary and Mitradev Swargiary in particular. Tomorrow, defending champions Assam rifles will take on JCB Villai in the last quarterfinal match.
