NAGAON, Oct 17 - In a day and night match of the ongoing Independence Day Cup Football Tournament here at the Nurul Amin Stadium today, ASEB Sports Club, Guwahati beat Sanjivon Somaj, Nagaon 2-0 goals and made it to the quarterfinal league stage.
Bishal Kr Sonar put ASEB ahead in the sixth minute while Moneswar Musahary netted the second goal at the fag end of the match.
The quarterfinal stage will be played in league basis among Oil India FC, Duliajan; Gokulam, Kerala FC; ASEB, Guwahati; and BSF, Jalandhar. Top two teams will qualify for the final to be played on October 23.
An ASEB official revealed that the fixture is not conducive for them as they have very little rest between the league matches. The official even said that if they qualify for the final they have to play back to back as after playing the last league match on October 22 they have to play the final next day.
