ASEAN-India car rally welcomed at NRL

NRL TOWNSHIP (DERGAON), Dec 16 � �The car rally is a fantastic journey enjoyed by the participants. Though the journey is a long one, it gave them valuable experiences. And that is why they are enjoying it. The public received them with enjoyments and love. The rally will certainly strengthen the brotherhood among the participating countries.� This was stated by participant from Singapore Dr Tan. A physician by profession, Dr Tan said he enjoyed the journey and expressed his good feelings about the natural beauty of the place and the hospitality of Golaghat district administration.

�The hospitality of Assam as well as the natural beauty is very fine. We enjoyed the journey with great expectation that the rally will provide a good track of trade and commerce among the Asean countries,� Ms Shuen of Singapore told this correspondent. �Assamese people showed good response as well as hospitality to the participants and we enjoyed it,� Rahul, a participant from India told this correspondent. On the other hand, the participant from Singapore Dr Tan found Assamese red tea was not presented to them though they looked forward to that beverage.

It is pertinent to mention that the second ASEAN-India car rally entered the State through Karbi Anglong district today. The rally with participants from 11 countries including India were received by Golaghat DC Sanjib Gohain at Numaligarh Refinery Ltd Township at around 10.40 am. The participants were then felicitated with phulam gamocha and flowers. The participants from countries like Indonesia, Brunei, Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and host India took their lunch where special Assamese dishes along with Indian dishes were provided.

In the programme, Bihu dance and jhumur were presented by Haatikhuli Rangajan and Rajabari teams respectively. The participants of the rally also participated in the cultural programmes. The rally left NRL around 12 noon after spending about one hour.
