ASDC accuses HAD Minister Ronghang of corruption

By Correspondent

DIPHU, Dec 7 - The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) has accused Hill Areas Development Minister Sum Ronghang of siphoning off several crores of rupees meant for the Greater Diphu Water Supply Scheme. During the 7th conference of the party held at Diphu, ASDC vice president Chomang Kro alleged that the minister siphoned off the entire amount when he was in the Congress.

In his speech, Kro also mentioned the vexed inter-state border issue and demanded that the authorities will have to deploy Central security forces in the Daldali Reserve Forest along the Assam-Nagaland border to stop infringement from the Nagaland side. Kro criticised the ruling BJP for its failure in fulfilling the demand for an autonomous state comprising Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao provided in Article 244 (A) of the Constitution of India. He said in his speech that the BJP promises autonomous state whenever there is an election, but later overlooks the issue.

BJP leaders made promises to the people of Karbi Anglong to grant an autonomous state, but after the elections, their promises are forgotten, he said.

The ASDC leader also demanded that the Diphu Civil Hospital be reinstated, as the poor people were facing untold misery as the Civil Hospital was closed by the State government to make the Diphu Medical College and Hospital more purposeful.

The conference was attended by ASDC president Chandra Kanta Terang, former MLA Hemsing Tisso, former EM Sonasing Terang, secretary (finance) Sanjay Killing, secretary (publicity) Daniel Teron, KSA president Jemson Timung and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong (KNCA) secretary Kajek Tokbipi.
