Asam Sahitya Sabha Reception committee for Sualkuchi session formed

SUALKUCHI, June 9 - The 75th biennial session of the Asam Sahitya Sabha will be held with a four-day programme from February 1-4, 2020 at Sualkuchi, the silk village of Assam and the reception committee for the session was formed today with Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, PWD Minister as the president and Kamal Kr Baishya, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup as the working president.

Inaugurating the public meeting organised by the Jyoti Sahitya Sabha, Sualkuchi, Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, president, Asam Sahitya Sabha called upon the people of Sualkuchi as well as the members of the branches of Asam Sahitya Sabha in Kamrup district to make the session a success. He said the various ethnic groups of the NE will meet here and will vow to safeguard the indigenous identity of the people of the region. He requested the minister to take steps to invite the President of India to inaugurate the biennial session at Sualkuchi.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, PWD Minister stressed the need of a collective effort for making the session a success. The meeting was presided over by Ramesh Chandra Deka, president of Jyoti Sahitya Sabha and was attended by a large number of people including the members of different branches of Asam Sahitya Sabha in Kamrup district.
