GUWAHATI, Oct 30 - Author Arup Kumar Dutta�s latest novel The Bag, published by Niyogi Books, was formally launched on October 28 in New Delhi at a function at the First Circle book shop in Khan Market by former Nagaland Governor Nikhil Kumar, a press release received here stated.

Nirmalkanti Bhattacharjee, CEO of Niyogi Books, Priyanka Malhotra of First Circle and Krishna Sharma of Axom, New Horizons, also addressed the gathering during the brief launch ceremony.

The formal launch of The Bag was followed by an hour-long, scintillating �conversation� before a packed house between the author Arup Kumar Dutta and Gaurav Choudhuri, Economy Editor at Network 18.

The audience was treated to an animated discussion not only on the literary aspect of the novel, but also on the socio-political situation in Assam. Dutta spoke at length on aspects such as the illegal immigration problem, the necessity for updating of the NRC, economic ailments afflicting a peripheral region and other issues.

The �conversation� concluded with another equally animated interaction between the audience and the author, during which socio-economic issues were discussed and debated.
