Arunachal�s virus death count rises to 8

ITANAGAR, Sept 4 - Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday recorded its eighth COVID-19 fatality with the death of a 70-year-old patient.

The State also registered the highest single-day spike of 214 cases that took its tally of confirmed cases to 4,574.

State Surveillance Officer, IDSP, Dr Lobsang Jampa said the septuagenarian with comorbidities was admitted to the Dedicated COVID Hospital at Chimpu on Wednesday and he expired on Thursday afternoon.

He was suffering from coronary artery disease (CAD) with myocardial infarction (MI) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Dr Jampa said.

With the detection of 214 fresh cases, the State�s active COVID-19 cases mounted to 1,399, a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services said.

Of the new cases, Itanagar Capital Complex accounts for maximum 46, followed by Tirap (37) and West Siang (36), Changlang (28), Papum Pare (19) and Lower Dibang Valley (10).

Eight cases were detected in Longding, seven in West Kameng, six in East Siang, three each in Lower Subansiri, Upper Siang and Tawang, two each in Shi-Yomi and Lohit and one each in Upper Subansiri, Leparada, Pakke-Kessang and East Kameng.

Among the fresh cases, 201 were asymptomatic and 13 symptomatic, the health bulletin said.

Meanwhile, 92 patients were discharged from hospitals upon recovery. With this, the number of recovered cases has risen to 3,167.
