Arunachal�s COVID-19 tally crosses 12k-mark

ITANAGAR, Oct 12 - The COVID-19 caseload of Arunachal Pradesh surged past the 12,000-mark on Sunday with 148 more people, including 39 from Central Jail, Jully (Itanagar) testing positive for the virus, while one more person succumbed to the infection, taking the death toll to 24.

State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa informed that a 58-year-old man, who hailed from Assam�s Biswanath Chariali was admitted to TRIHMS, Naharlagun at 10 am yesterday after he suffered a stroke. He tested positive for COVID-19 and expired at 11 am.

He was an employee of a private firm. His body was handed over to his relatives after sanitization as per SOP, Dr Jampa said, adding that counselling for proper handling was also given to the relatives.

As per the bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services, the virus tally climbed to 12,146 with the detection of 148 new positive cases.
