Arunachal�s 1st medical college to open soon

ITANAGAR, June 20 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul today announced that the State Government is putting all-out efforts to make the State�s first Medical College functional by next year.

Addressing a meeting convened here to review the progress report of the Medical College and Tomo Riba State Hospital at Naharlagun besides other health facilities in the State, the Chief Minister asked the Department of Health & Family Welfare and the Noida-based executing agency, Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Ltd to fast-track the construction of the 300-bedded Tomo Riba State Hospital for the establishment of Medical College in the State.

Setting the deadline for completion of construction of Tomo Riba State Hospital buildings by August 15 with state-of-the-art medical facilities, the Chief Minister asked the department to ensure that procurement of the equipments must be done by the same agency that will run the hospital.

Pul also directed the State PWD to start the process of tendering and construction of the 110-metre Bailey bridge over Pachin river and to complete the bridge within one year so that construction work of medical college at Pachin Colony can be started soon.
