Arunachal virus tally crosses 14k

ITANAGAR, Oct 23 - The Arunachal Pradesh COVID-19 tally crossed the 14,000 mark on Thursday as 165 more people tested positive for the virus. The total caseload now stands at 14,077.

On the other hand, one more patient died of the infection, pushing the death toll to 32, a senior Health Department official said.

A 59-year-old retired APP personnel hailing from Telibari, Deobeel, in Assam, expired at the dedicated COVID hospital in Pasighat on Thursday, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Of the fresh cases, Lohit accounted for the highest 43 cases (including 41 GREF personnel), followed by the Itanagar Capital Complex (32), East Siang (23), Namsai (13) and West Siang (10).

West Kameng reported eight positive cases, Upper Siang six, Tirap and Changlang five each, and Pakke Kessang and Longding four each. Two cases each were reported from Tawang, Upper Subansiri, Siang, Lower Dibang Valley and Papumpare, while Lower Siang and Anjaw recorded one case each.

As many as 136 of the fresh cases have been found to be asymptomatic and 29 symptomatic, according to a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here last evening.

Meanwhile, 208 infected recuperated from the disease in the last 24 hours, pushing the number of recovered cases to 11,407. The State has currently 2,638 active cases.
