ITANAGAR, July 16 - The total number of novel coronavirus cases in Arunachal Pradesh has risen to 491 after 29 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Of the 29 new cases detected in four districts, 14 are from Namsai district, 12 from the Itanagar Capital Complex, two from Leparada and one from Lower Siang district, according to a bulletin issued by the Arunachal Pradesh Directorate of Health Services here last night.
Eleven out of the 12 positive cases in the Itanagar Capital Complex were detected outside quarantine facilities, while the COVID-19 cases of Namsai, Leparada and Lower Siang districts are those who had returned from outside and all were detected at quarantine centres. As per the bulletin, 28 cases are asymptomatic and one is symptomatic.
Itanagar continues to be the worst affected with 230 confirmed cases, including 205 active cases, 24 discharged and one casualty. Changlang stands second with 111 confirmed cases, including 33 active cases and 78 discharged cases, followed by Namsai at the third place with 38 cases, of which 30 are active cases and eight have already been discharged following their recovery.
Meanwhile, at least seven employees of the Naharlagun-based M/s Popu Enterprises, distributors of medical equipment and drugs in the capital region, have tested positive for COVID-19.
