Arunachal Speaker reviews Covid-19 scene

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, March 30 - Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona today attended a review meeting on Covid-19 preparedness in his home district Shi-Yomi with the DC, SP, district medical officer and other stakeholders at Mechuka, the headquarters of the newly-created district.

Sona rushed to Shi-Yomi district on Sunday to oversee the post Covid-19 situation amid reports of food scarcity in Monigong and Pidi circles in the wake of the 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

The Speaker said that the district administration, police and health departments are doing their best with all the available resources in the district. He informed that he had suggested them that there should be no delay or negligence due to financial crunch as funding is not a problem as of now. He assured the district administration of all possible help and told them to approach him for any assistance.

Sona, however, expressed concern over reports that a section of the public was not supportive towards the administration in some places of the district.

What I got to know is the public need to cooperate with the administration, police and health workers, said Sona, adding that whatever they are doing is for everyones safety.

He fervently appealed to the people of the district to follow the governments advisories/instructions as the only key to preventing the Covid-19 pandemic is awareness, maintaining social distancing and personal hygiene.
