ITANAGAR, Oct 26 - Veteran journalist Taro Chatung passed away at a government hospital here this morning after a brief illness. He was 56.

Chatung was undergoing treatment at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, Naharlagun. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

Chatung was regarded as the pioneer of the electronic media in Arunachal Pradesh. His last rites will be performed at his birthplace, Ziro, in Lower Subansiri district tomorrow.

Expressing grief over the demise of the veteran journalist, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, It breaks my heart to know Chatung sir is no more with us. We grew up hearing about him and watched him on News & Views every evening through the week days on DDK, Itanagar.
