Arunachal records 97 new COVID-19 cases

ITANAGAR, Aug 23 - Arunachal Pradesh has reported 97 fresh cases of coronavirus and released 103 patients following their recovery from the disease.

With the addition of the new virus cases, the State�s tally of confirmed cases rose to 3,223. The total number of recovered/ discharged cases mounted to 2,228, pushing the recovery rate to 69.12 per cent.

Arunachal�s active cases stand at 990. It has already registered five deaths due to the virus, according to a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here late last evening.

Of the 97 new cases, Tawang and Upper Subansiri accounted for the most with 24 infections each, as Itanagar Capital Complex closely followed with 22 cases. West Kameng registered 16 cases, while four cases were confirmed in East Kameng and two in East Siang. Lohit, Namsai, Kamle, West Siang and Lower Siang found one case each.

Among the newly infected people, 35 cases are Central Paramilitary Forces (CPMF) personnel. Tawang detected the most at 22, followed by West Kameng 11 and Easi Siang two.

Ninety out of 97 cases were found to be asymptomatic and seven symptomatic, as per the bulletin. Of the 103 recovered/discharged cases, Lohit took the lead with 36 recoveries, as Itanagar Capital Complex came second with 22 discharges, followed by Lower Siang and East Kameng at nine each.

Tawang saw release of eight cases, West Kameng seven and Tirap, West Siang and East Siang discharged three patients each. Longding recorded two recoveries and Lower Dibang Valley one.
