Arunachal preparing tourism policy

ITANAGAR, Jan 30 � Arunachal Tourism Minister Pema Khandu today informed the State Assembly that the Tourism department is preparing a comprehensive tourism policy towards boosting the sector.

While replying to a supplementary query from Paknga Bage, the Minister said that Arunachal Pradesh boasts of 12 tourist circuits with the latest one � Margherita-Jairampur-Nampong-Manmao-Pangsau Pass being approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on January 22 last. MHA has also approved extension of the existing tourist circuit Margerita-Miao-Namdapa to Vijoynagar in Changlang district.

To another supplementary from PD Sona, the Tourism Minister said that since the three districts of Tawang, West Kameng and Lower Subansiri attract maximum tourists, the MHA had brought in some relaxation in the Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime for the foreign tourists visiting Arunachal.
