Arunachal Pradesh Guv reviews security scene

ITANAGAR, Nov 2 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retired) Dr BD Mishra reviewed the �internal and external security preparedness of the State� with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of Eastern Air Command, Air Marshal Amit Dev at the Raj Bhavan here today.

A communique from the Raj Bhavan said that the Governor emphasised that along with its air prowess, the Indian Air Force must instil a sense of security among the people of Arunachal Pradesh. He suggested that IAF must continue their compassionate flights to ensure that the local population receive basic ration commodities at the right time where air dropping is the only method for their sustenance. The Governor suggested that the matter of outstanding bills of Indian Air Force against the State must be resolved at the earliest keeping in view the helicopter flying rate modulation and humanitarian causes for such helicopter flights.

He also called for activating all the Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) in the State for civilian purposes, in addition to national security. He said that these ALGs have been very useful in times of medical emergencies.

The Governor commended the Eastern Air Command for conducting many humanitarian flights and rescuing men and material during natural calamities. He expressed hope that the EAC will maintain these services and sort out any bottleneck in its implementation.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, who visited the remote villages along the Indo-Tibetan border recently, shared his observations in the far-flung areas in the meeting. He sought humanitarian assistance from the Indian Air Force in the border villages at times of emergencies and also during beyond-human-control disasters.

Earlier, the AOC-in-C apprised the Governor and the Chief Minister about the preparedness of Indian Air Force in the Northeastern region. He also briefed them about new humanitarian and operational initiatives, which he is planning, the communique added.
