Arunachal orders closure of all educational institutions, markets

ITANAGAR, March 16 - As concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic grow with every passing day, the Arunachal Pradesh Government today ordered temporary closure of all educational institutions, suspension of all convention halls, multiplexes, mini cinema halls, night clubs and all weekly bazaars till April 5 in a bid to prevent the possible outbreak and spread of novel coronavirus in the Himalayan state.

The Government also urged all concerned to avoid social, cultural, political, religious, academic and sports gathering of people, except for marriages, till April 5 next.

All shopping malls should be disinfected daily. All educational institutions shall be closed till April 5, except for the ongoing Board exams, according to a Government order dated March 16.

�All deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh are hereby requested to ensure strict compliance of the order,� Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said.

In another order, the Arunachal Pradesh Government has directed the Deputy Resident Commissioners based at New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Tezpur and Shillong, besides the resident tourism officers (RTO) in New Delhi and Mohanbari to suspend issuing Inner Line Permit (ILP) to tourists temporarily till further orders.

Earlier on March 6, the State Govt had temporarily suspended issue of Protected Area Permit (PAP) to foreign visitors in order to prevent possible spread of Covid-19 in the State.

Meanwhile, the Papum Pare district administration headed by Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu today decided to carry out screening of all passengers at all entry points of the district, including Banderdewa, Hollongi, Gumto and Kimin check gates to prevent Covid-19 pandemic in the region.
