Arunachal Guv reviews security scenario

ITANAGAR, July 2 � Arunachal Pradesh Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa convened a high-level meeting at Raj Bhawan here last evening to assess the prevailing security scenario in the State.

The meeting attended by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, Home Minister Tanga Byaling and Director General of Police S Nithianandam, discussed various security-related issues including law and order, insurgency and drug menace in the State.

Addressing the meeting, the Governor laid stress on maintaining better cooperation amongst the security forces and other stakeholders. He also called for synergy amongst security forces and real-time intelligence-sharing.

The Governor advised the security forces to take special care of the women, children and senior citizens while carrying out counter-insurgency operations by maintaining utmost discipline.

Participating in the discussions, the Chief Minister said that Arunachal Pradesh is a peaceful State and all must contribute to maintain it. He added that insurgency in the State is not home-grown.

Parliamentary Secretary for Home Likha Saaya, Principal Secretary (Home) Dharmendra Sharma and Commissioner (Excise and Narcotics) TT Gamdik also attended the meeting.
