Arunachal Govt constitutes panel to revive economy

ITANAGAR, May 28 - The Arunachal Pradesh Government has constituted an Economic Revival Committee (ERC) to recommend measures in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

�Govt of Arunachal Pradesh has constituted an Economic Revival Committee to review the economic situation impacted by the global pandemic #COVID19 in the State. This committee will suggest corrective steps for economic revival of the State for a #SelfReliantArunachal,� Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said in a Twitter post today.

The 14-member committee will comprise Principal Secretary (Finance), Commissioner (Planning and Investment) and Commissioner (Home) as members and Secretary (Planning and Investment) as convener. Secretaries of the Industries, Tourism, and Agriculture departments will also be included in the committee as members.

Releasing the terms of reference of the committee, State Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar said the committee�s work would include making sector-specific recommendations based on broad assessment of the impact of COVID-19 on each sector. The committee will review the economic situation and suggest corrective steps. It will also make recommendations for policy formation to bring in investment.

Kumar further said, �The committee will devise strategies for expeditious implementation of the Rs 20 lakh crore packages in the State as soon as it is announced in detail by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.�

The committee will suggest measures for short-term, medium-term and long-term economic revival of the State. It will also give suggestions on easy availability and mobility of workers in the State.

The first meeting of the ERC will be held here on May 30, the Chief Secretary said, adding that outstation members may attend it via video conferencing.
