Arunachal Express train to be flagged off today

ITANAGAR, Feb 28 - As announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent visit to the Arunachal capital here on February 15 last, the new weekly Express special train from Naharlagun to Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi will be inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain on Thursday at Naharlagun railway station. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu is scheduled to attend the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

Further as christened by the PM himself, the new train Arunachal Express will have state-of-the-art LHB coaches which are modern and safe.

It will be the 14th direct train connecting North East with the national capital. The train will cover the 2,013 km distance between Naharlagun and Anand Vihar Terminal in little over 38 hours and will have 14 stoppages en-route. The train will be completely air-conditioned and will have 1st class, two-tier and three-tier coaches along with a pantry car, informed an NFR official here.

With the introduction of the new train, Arunachal Pradesh will now be connected with the national capital with two trains.

A weekly AC express is already running between Naharlagun and Anand Vihar.
