By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Sept 5 - Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Taba Tedir said today that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

The 56-year-old minister who has mild symptoms, has been admitted to the dedicated COVID hospital at Chimpu, a senior Health Department official said.

Meanwhile, Tedir has requested all those people who came in contact with him during the past few days to isolate themselves from their family members and get themselves tested.

Tedir is the third lawmaker from Arunachal Pradesh to have contracted the infection after Jummum Ete Deori from Lekang and Dorjee Wangdi Kharma from Kalaktang. Deori and Kharma tested positive on August 14 and 27 respectively.

Meanwhile, State Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona called upon all legislators to get themselves tested for COVID-19. He made this appeal in the wake of steep rise in virus cases in the State, especially in the Itanagar Capital Region.

The Speaker said that a rapid antigen testing facility has been set up at the Assembly complex that will function from 9 am to 12 noon on September 8.
