Arunachal district struggling for survival

By The Assam Tribune

Itanagar, Dec 14 (PTI): Eight months after torrential rains snapped off surface communication in Dibang Valley in the State and cut it from the rest of the country, the district is still struggling for survival.

The eastern district, bordering China is in total darkness since the last couple of months, as various power projects were badly damaged in the recent floods coupled with massive landslips.

Telecommunication was also disrupted after breakdown of BSNL network.

Prices of essential commodities are so high that it has become impossible for ordinary citizens to afford them.

"We are frustrated with the response of the state government. We are facing so many problems and each day our hope is getting bleak due to lackadaisical attitude of the government," Omila Migi, a local district leader said.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), responsible for maintaining roads in the district, is also facing public ire.
