Arunachal Covid count rises to 2,155 cases

ITANAGAR, Aug 10 - Continuing its surge of COVID-19 cases, Arunachal Pradesh recorded 38 more positive cases on Sunday, taking the tally of confirmed cases to 2,155.

On the other hand, 52 COVID-19 patients were released on the day, thereby taking the total number of discharged cases to 1,482. With this, the aggregate in active cases has come down to 670, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here late last evening. The State has earlier registered three deaths due to the virus.

Of the 38 fresh cases, East Kameng led the load with 13 cases while East Siang detected five cases. Lower Siang registered four cases, as three cases each were reported from Itanagar Capital Complex, Tirap and West Siang. Two cases each were reported from Anjaw, Papum Pare, Tawang and Namsai, while Upper Siang registered one case.

Out of the 38 fresh cases, five cases were found to be symptomatic and 33 asymptomatic, as per the bulletin. The newly-infected people included 21 central paramilitary forces (CPMF) personnel and seven truck drivers.

Among the 52 patients released following their recovery from the disease, East Siang accounted for the most with 25 recoveries, followed by Itanagar-17, West Siang-six and Namsai-four. As of Sunday, the total number of samples tested for COVID-19 is 1,03,587 with 1,01,265 of them coming negative and results of 54 samples are pending, as per the bulletin.
