Arunachal COVID-19 toll reaches 20

ITANAGAR, Oct 7 - The COVID-19 death toll in Arunachal Pradesh has risen to 20 as a 47-year-old patient with comorbidities succumbed to the infection, while the State�s tally of positive cases crossed the 11,000-mark with a spike of 222 new cases on Tuesday.

�The COVID-19 patient had a known case of hypertension and expired at the Dedicated COVID Hospital at Chimpu here on Monday night,� State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa informed.

The deceased, who worked as a junior engineer in the State Hydropower Department, was referred from the DCHC, Midpu, to the DCH on September 25. His body was handed over to the relatives in a body bag after sanitization as per the SOP. Counselling for proper handling of body was also given to them, Dr Jampa said.

Meanwhile, with the detection of 222 fresh cases, the State�s COVID-19 tally of confirmed cases climbed to 11,007, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here.

Of the total cases, the Itanagar Capital Complex reported the maximum (90), followed by Changlang (28), West Siang (23), and East Siang and Tirap (16 each). Lower Subansiri detected nine cases, while Leparada found eight, Lower Dibang Valley six and Upper Siang five. Namsai and Upper Subansiri contracted four cases each, as Papum Pare, West Kameng and Lower Siang registered three each, Lohit two, and Tawang and Longding one case each.

Of the total cases, 179 were found to be asymptomatic and 43 symptomatic, as per the bulletin. On the other hand, 189 patients recovered from the disease on the day, taking the total number of recoveries to 7,965. The State has currently 3,022 active cases.
