Arunachal COVID-19 tally reaches 16,709

ITANAGAR, Dec 30 - Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 13 more fresh cases of COVID-19, taking the State�s tally of confirmed cases to 16,709, stated a bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here.

Seven of the new cases were reported from Tawang, two each from Itanagar Capital Complex and West Kameng, and one each from East Siang and Lohit.

The infected persons include three security personnel, including two military personnel from West Kameng and one ITBP jawan from Lohit. Eleven of the total cases have been found to be asymptomatic and two symptomatic, according to the bulletin.

Meanwhile, 17 cured patients were discharged during the day across the State, that took the number of recovered cases to 16,538.

The COVID-19 recovery rate in the State is 98.97 per cent. The active cases now stand at 115. The disease has claimed 56 lives so far.

On the brighter side, 11 out of 26 districts have become coronavirus-free. They are Leparada, Upper Subansiri, Shi-Yomi, Anjaw, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra Daadi, Kamle and Dibang Valley.

On the other hand, the worst-affected Itanagar Capital Complex, which has reported 5,790 infections and 28 virus deaths, has the most number of active cases (45), followed by Tawang (29), West Kameng (11) and East Siang (10).

Arunachal Pradesh has so far tested 3,77,052 samples for COVID-19, of which 484 were collected on Tuesday, as per the bulletin.
