Arunachal COVID-19 tally reaches 1,484

ITANAGAR, July 31 - COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Arunachal Pradesh with the detection of 74 new cases on Thursday, taking the State�s tally to 1,484.

A bulletin issued by the State Directorate of Health Services here said the State saw the recovery/discharge of 150 patients, raising the total number of discharged cases to 827 and exceeding the number of active cases (654) for the first time.

Three people have died of the disease so far.

Out of the 74 fresh cases, 21 are from Itanagar Capital Complex, 17 from Changlang and 10 from Lower Subansiri. Namsai registered nine cases, Tawang seven and Papum Pare four, while Lower Dibang Valley, East Kameng, East Siang, Lohit, Tirap and Siang recorded one case each.

As per the bulletin, seven of the 74 cases are symptomatic while the rest are asymptomatic.

Altogether 150 patients were discharged upon their recovery during the day, stated the bulletin. Among them 85 are from Itanagar Capital Complex, 25 from Namsai, 10 from Tawang, eight from Lower Subansiri, seven from Upper Siang, four from Anjaw, three each from Changlang and West Siang, two each from West Kameng and East Siang, and one from Siang district.

A PTI report from Itanagar adds: Two COVID-19 patients have given birth to two healthy babies at a State-run hospital in Arunachal Pradesh, a senior doctor of the medical establishment said.

Both the babies, a boy and a girl, have tested negative for COVID-19, he said.

The women gave birth to the babies at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), the hospital�s director, Dr Moji Jini, said.

A 32-year-old woman from the Capital Complex region gave birth to a girl weighing three kg, while another woman from Seppa in East Kameng district gave birth to a boy weighing 3.2 kg, he said.
