Arunachal Congress observes Jan Aakrosh Diwas

By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, Nov 28 - Joining the country-wide Jan Aakrosh Diwas to protest against the Central Governments demonetisation move, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today staged a mass demonstration here slamming the ruling dispensation at the Centre for withdrawal of high-value currency notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 in a move to curb black money and corruption.

Holding placards and banners, hundreds of Congress workers led by senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and APCC president Padi Richo joined the protest at Indira Gandhi Park tennis court here.

Alleging selective leak about the demonetisation which it described as the biggest scam ever after countrys Independence, the APCC demanded a high level enquiry by constituting a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on demonetisation.

With the united Opposition continuing to stall the proceedings in both houses of Parliament, the APCC demanded that the PM should address the nation in the Parliament and name those who died due to demonetisation and announce immediate relief to the families of the deceased.

It also reiterated its demand that no restriction should be made to the tribal and hilly States of the country on cash withdrawal in order to ease the sufferings of the common masses.

Earlier, while addressing the protesters, Tuki strongly condemned the demonetisation policy of Modi Government without proper planning and way of implementation, describing the same as anti-people.

He said Arunachal Pradesh has been the worst sufferer as most parts of the State do not have banking and postal services due to communication bottleneck. Its an absurdity on the part of the Modi Government to have announced the demonetisation overnight, Tuki alleged.
