By Correspondent

ITANAGAR, March 18 - Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul on Friday appointed 15 MLAs, including 13 from ruling Peoples Party of Arunachal (PPA) and two Independents, to the post of Parliamentary Secretaries to assist his Council of Ministers.

The Chief Minister administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly-appointed Parliamentary Secretaries who will enjoy the status, privileges and perks similar to that of a Minister of State in a simple ceremony at the Banquet Hall here this afternoon. Earlier, the newly posted Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin read out their letter of appointment.

However, two of the 15 Parliamentary Secretaries Pasang Dorjee Sona and Tirong Aboh (former Minister in previous Nabam Tuki Cabinet) did not take oath today as they were away from the State capital, said Pul while talking to reporters. He also informed that duties of the Parliamentary Secretaries would be alloted tomorrow.

Notably, both the independent MLAs Tsering Tashi, son of former CM late Dorjee Khandu and Paknga Bage were first-timers to the post of Parliamentary Secretaries. Another first-timer is PPA MLA Zingnu Namchoom.

Rest of the appointees had earlier held the posts of either Minister or Parliamentary Secretaries or Chairmen of various government bodies. They are: Chow Tewa Mein, Phosum Khimhun, Punji Mara, Jomde Kena, Alo Libang, Jambey Tashi, Tapuk Taku, Tatung Jamoh, Gum Tayeng and Roing MLA Mutchu Mithi, son of former CM and Congress Rajya Sabha member Mukut Mithi.
