Arunachal cases surge to 462

ITANAGAR, July 15 - Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday recorded its highest single-day spike of 75 COVID-19 cases, taking its tally of confirmed cases to 462. Forty-nine out of the 75 fresh cases were detected in the Itanagar Capital Complex, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services today.

Twelve cases were reported from East Siang district, followed by five from Leparada, three from Namsai, two from Lower Dibang Valley and one each from Changlang, Longding, Siang and Tirap districts.

Among the 75 new cases, 64 cases are asymptomatic and 11 symptomatic, the bulletin said. Meanwhile, eight COVID-19 patients have been released from the hospital following their recovery. They included four from Changlang and two each from Namsai and Lower Siang districts.

Arunachal Pradesh has at present 306 active cases, while 153 COVID-19 patients have been cured. Three COVID-19 patients have already succumbed to the virus.

The Itanagar Capital Complex with a total of 218 cases, including 193 active and 24 discharged cases along with one casualty, continues to be the worst-affected region, followed by Changlang with 111 cases (33 active cases and 78 recoveries) and West Kameng with 28 cases (19 active cases, seven discharged and two deaths).

Meanwhile, TRIHMS Director Dr Moji Jini said that in view of the rapid rise in the number of COVID-19 cases, all services other than Flu Clinic, COVID Ward/ICU in the TRIHMS Hospital, Naharlagun, will remain suspended till further orders.
