ITANAGAR, May 25 � Arunachal Pradesh today bade an emotional farewell to its outgoing Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (Retd), who has been appointed Governor of Mizoram.
�I love you all. Jai Arunachal,� was the parting words of the outgoing Governor to the people of the Himalayan State as he left the Itanagar Raj Bhawan for Mizoram this morning.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, his Cabinet colleagues, Speaker Nabam Rebia and senior officers of State government, among others, saw off the Governor and his wife Jyotsna Sharma at the Raj Bhawan helipad.
Earlier, the officers and staff of the Governor�s Secretariat and Raj Bhawan bade a touching farewell to the Governor.
As a mark of respect to the Sharma couple, the officers and staff pulled a decorated jeep carrying the Governor and his wife from Raj Bhawan to the helipad. Cultural troupes from various tribes of the State lined up on both sides of the road and showered flower petals on them.
Recalling his association with Arunachal, the Governor said that he considers his association with the State very sacred and fulfilling. �It is my firm belief that this beautiful and resourceful State of our country can be developed into a model State with its immense natural bounty and hard-working, resilient people.�
